Olivia was diagnosed prenatally with AVSD and underwent her first open heart surgery at just 4 days old. She overcame many unexpected set backs during her recovery and was able to go home with her family (including 2 big sisters!) after 3 months.
Olivia’s family reached out to Boston Children’s Hospital for a second opinion and during the winter of 2024, they traveled up from South Carolina for her second open heart surgery. The surgery was successful and Olivia’s care team is optimistic that they will be able to fully repair her heart during her next surgery.
