Introducing Heart Warrior, Anna! Anna was born with congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries, pulmonary atresia, double outlet right ventricle, a ventricular septal defect, and dextrocardia.
In her first 13 months of life, Anna had 3 cardiac caths and 3 open heart surgeries. The first was her BT shunt at 6 weeks old and then the bidirectional Glenn at 4 months old. When Anna was 13 months, her family traveled from Illinois to Boston Children’s Hospital where she underwent her 3rd open heart surgery, a modified double switch.
We are truly happy to have been able to offer Anna’s family affordable, temporary housing during their time in Boston. Anna’s family shared, “We can’t even explain how grateful we were to be so close to the hospital during such a trying time. It allowed whichever parent was sleeping at the apartment that night, or running back for a shower, etc to not have to worry about being far away if something were to happen. I couldn’t imagine going through something like that without being so close to the hospital. Thank you for all that you do to support families through incredibly tough times.”
