Knowles is a brave 2-year-old boy from Alabama. Shortly after birth, he spent a week in the hospital under close monitoring due to a congenital heart defect (CHD) diagnosis: right dominant unbalanced AV canal, along with ASD, VSD, and other heterotaxy-related heart characteristics. Doctors also discovered that a chromosomal microdeletion was the underlying cause of his heart condition.
Knowles has already undergone three open-heart surgeries, with the most recent one taking place at Boston Children’s Hospital in April. He received a complete bi-ventricular repair along with a mitral valve repair.
Despite being born with multiple CHDs, Knowles continues to thrive—hitting his milestones and filling every room with smiles. His family describes him as their miracle baby and the answer to many prayers.
Knowles’ parents shared: “We are so grateful for Live4Evan. The apartment provided to our family during our last stay in Boston was a big blessing! Having previously stayed farther from the hospital, being this close for Knowles’ second and third surgeries was such a relief. The L4E apartment gave us a safe, comfortable place to return to after long days and nights at the hospital. Because of the space, we were able to bring our daughter along this time. We are forever thankful to Live4Evan.”
We’re honored to have supported Knowles and his family by providing affordable, temporary housing during their stay in Boston for his surgery. Thank you to all of our sponsors and donors for helping to make this happen.
