Cole was diagnosed prenatally with Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV), an interrupted aortic arch, and a hypoplastic aorta with VSD. After several follow-up appointments with maternal-fetal medicine specialists and a local cardiologist, his family sought a second opinion at Boston Children’s Hospital, hoping to both deliver and receive care there.

In the weeks leading up to his birth, Cole’s parents, along with his 3-year-old brother Luke, relocated to Boston from New York as they awaited his arrival. At just six days old, Cole underwent his first open-heart surgery—a full repair. Unfortunately, complications following surgery led to a longer than expected hospital stay, including the need for ongoing respiratory support.

During this time, Cole also underwent a G-tube placement and a cardiac catheterization before being deemed stable enough to go home to grow and gain strength ahead of his next surgery. Just a few weeks later, however, Cole experienced a medical emergency at home and was airlifted back to Boston.

There, he underwent his second open-heart surgery—a Ross-Konno procedure. Thankfully, Cole recovered well and was able to return home with his family just before Thanksgiving.

Today, at nine months old, Cole is thriving. He’s sitting up, rolling over, and smiling constantly. He’s even babbling and saying “mama” and “dada”—milestones that feel extra special for his family. While Cole continues to have ongoing medical needs, his heart is doing well.

We are so grateful to have supported Cole’s family by providing them with affordable, temporary housing during their time in Boston.

His family shared: “Thank you for everything Live4Evan did for us during the most difficult time in our lives. With your housing, we were able to remain close to our baby while also providing a sense of stability, structure, and familiarity for our 3-year-old during an incredibly uncertain time. Ensuring our children’s needs were met was our highest priority, and your foundation made that possible. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.”

Thank you to our supporters for making stories like Cole’s possible.
