Camila is 4 years old and was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary atresia shortly after her birth.
Camila and her family are from El Salvador and began to explore treatment options in other countries. Camila defied the odds and remained stable during this time. They reached out to Boston Children’s Hospital for an opinion and made their first trip up in August of 2021 when Camila received her first procedures. She would return 2 more times for additional surgeries and treatment, most recently in 2023.
The procedures have been successful, and after 1 month, Camila and her family were able to return home!
In the words of Camila’s Father, “Now, almost 6 months after her last intervention, Camila started school at 4 years old like a normal child. Our hearts as parents are filled with joy to see the girl that the doctors had said would not live more than 6 months playing and running without getting tired and living a normal life being happy and enjoying everything she likes, like the beach, swimming, and playing with her brother. We thank God that Live4Evan gave us a comfortable and safe place close to the hospital when we needed it most. All the anguish has now become the joy of seeing our Camila grow healthy and strong.”
We are so happy that Camila is doing well and that we were able to help provide housing to her family during this time.
