Lane is a 7 month old twin who was born with Heterotaxy, which created multiple severe heart defects. He has transposition of the great arteries & vessels, hypoplastic left ventricle, dilated right ventricle, severe pulmonary stenosis, common atrium, bilateral superior vena cavas. It is interesting to note that Lane’s twin sister has situs inversus but thankfully all of her organs formed and work as they should, just reversed!

Lane’s heart defects were discovered during pregnancy and miraculously he was able to go home just 5 days after a PDA stent was placed after birth. After researching all options available, Lane’s parents made the decision to travel to Boston Children’s Hospital from Virginia for his next surgery. Live4Evan was able to provide Lane’s family with temporary housing during this time.

Lane’s Mom says, “Finding housing, but affordable & flexible housing at that, is a big stressor for families during an already stressful time. Being able to stay at Live4Evan was a dream! The short walk was perfect for taking the kids to and from the apartment while inpatient in the middle of a Boston winter. Thank you could never be enough to express our gratitude for Live4Evan and the burden it lifts from families.”

Lane’s twin sister and older brother were also able to make the trip up to Boston and we are so happy we were able to keep their whole family together. There is nothing better than that!
